Logan Grizzly Invitational

Yesterday was the Logan High School track and field invitational. It was another long day for a track meet as the bus left at 6am and we got back to the school at 7:15 pm. Despite the pouring rain/sleet/wind and cold temperatures until about 3:30 pm, we, the Viewmont track and field team did really well. One of Grayscale's athletes took 2nd overall in the boys javelin throwing 157' 5". This distance is state qualifying, meaning he is allowed to go the the state track and field championships in May, we are very excited!

Here are a few pictures that explain a little bit about how so
me of the throwers that Grayscale coaches felt at about 10:45 am when the rain stopped for a few minutes.
This is Black Thunder, so "happy" to be there :)

These two, Croatia (left) and Black Thunder (right), were so excited to be there. I particularly like the Egyptian dance that Croatia's hand is doing.
This is Mike, he was so very tired, personally if I didn't know Mike I'd be intimidated by this death stare...

Here is Ty wrapped in her incredibly soft blanket waiting for her flight of shot put to start.

This is Grayscale, her ears were cold, so she pulled her coat over her ears making her look like as Nicki said, "a pedophile"

Here is a better image of Grayscale after Croatia took her phone to "play" with.

Last, but certainly not least, these two are two of my most favorite people in the world, Scott and Alyssa. They are Grayscale's cousins and live about two blocks away from the high school the track meet was being held at. They came and braved the rain and cold to say hi. Love them so much! They were sharing an umbrella, so naturally it was a kodak moment which needed to be captured. Incredible, bearing the fact that there were close to 500 people in attendance at the meet, they managed to be the only two people in this picture, can you say perfect? I say, yes!

UVU Invitational

UVU, Utah Valley University hosted a high school track meet invitational for the first time on their new track a few weeks ago. As Grayscale helps coach high school track she went to the meet. Grayscale had a thrower who had to be there at 8 am, and she had to be to the meet at 7:15 am for the pre-meet coaches meeting, and due to the fact boys discus was running close to 5 hours behind, she got to stay at the meet until about 5:30 pm. Tyler McFarland did amazing at this meet as she got a huge PR, personal best, in the shot put throw. She threw 37' 5". As she was the ride for Mike Allred, the discus thrower we stayed for, she was ready to hurt someone when they started finals and were began to take a very long time to get started.

This is Ty holding a javelin, what you can't see is that Smiles (another thrower) is just outside the picture at the end of the javelin. (Don't worry, no one was harmed in the taking of this picture)

In a hurry...?

A few weeks ago Achmed had a "big" date, well I'm not sure if I can call it that since he had just recently returned from his mission to Switzerland. So maybe it was more of a "getting used to dating" date. Either way, we, Grayscale and Achmed had gone shopping to Walmart which is about 20 blocks away from our apartment and as we live in Salt Lake, this is actually quite a ways away. We got stuckin a line at the check-out and finally left Walmart with 15 minutes until he was supposed to pick Achmed up. The drive itself is approximately 20 minutes on a good traffic day. This picture is pretty self explanatory. I think Achmed was a little excited... :)
