Region and State Track Meet

After a long day of competing this is what everyone wishes they could do this:

Most of these were taken on day two of the state meet, the last one was taken during the drive back home after day one.

At the State Meet there are long breaks between events of those you go to cheer for seeing as all the classifications are there. This is what some did to entertain themselves:

Took phone calls,
Or drew on themselves...

Or let their friends build a "camp" on their forehead...

They may or may not react like this when the "camp flag" falls and the grass starts to fall into your mouth.

It goes without saying that you get some great memories at high school track meets. Some of the greatest of my life. Thanks guys, you're awesome!

Only at Track...

These are quotes that you likely will only hear at a track meet or track practice.
Since I overheard many of these and do not have permission to quote most of them, many authors will not be named. But enjoy them nonetheless, try to think like a track athlete while reading them :)

"When I die, I want to be reincarnated as a turbo jav."
"What's with that girls hair? It looks like she is keeping her shot put there for later!"
"Dang, I have whiplash, I was in a fight yesterday!"
While playing 20 questions: "Is a sports bra used for protection?"
"That's the price of prom"- a coach referring to the fact that many athletes missed the meet due to high school prom.
"My sister just called, then my cousin walked up, it was like a mini family reunion!"
Regarding team camp: "Wow! Viewmont is moving up in the world!" -(this is a story for another post)
"Man, squeezing through that fence felt like I was getting a mammogram! I've never actually had one, but I bet that's what it would feel like!"- Katie

Quotes on the back of shirts:
"Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't practice!"
"Our sport is your sports punishment, deal with it"
"Date a runner, all other athletes are players"
"Losing to someone better than you is inevitable. Losing because you didn't try is optional."
"There are two types of pain, the pain of discipline and the pain of regret, which one do you feel?"
One of my favorites I've seen:
"To meet with us you gotta be good, to compete with us you gotta be great, to defeat us... you gotta be kidding!"

Typical Track Meet in Utah

The Davis High School Invitational was held a few weeks ago, the day started out a bit cold but sunny, by 10 am it looked like this:

We couldn't see the lanes on the track, made it interesting for some of the runners before they called for a suspension while waiting for the snow to stop.
Ty was a little upset with the weather.

By 2:30 pm the sun was shining and most of us were all smiles.

This is Luca, he is our new track mascot. Danica, Coach Fox's daughter had a lot of fun playing with him.
These two are going to be future shot putters, they were looking pretty good practicing their form with rocks they found lying around.
All in all, it was a cold, warm, sunny and snowy day in Utah, a typical track meet day. What could be better?

Ty's routine for becoming a champion

In order to become a champion shot putter one must:

First become one with the toe board.

Second become one with the ring.

And finally become one with the whole thing together. Add all of these steps and you to may become a champion shot putter as well.

Happy Mothers Day!

I want to say Happy Mothers Day to two great moms that I know!

First to my mom, she is great! I definitely wouldn't be who or what I am without her, mom you're the best! Love you!

Second, to my sister in-law, she is going to be a great mom! So excited to meet little baby Smart!

This is my nephew! He will be joining us here at the end of August, early September!
(This is Jared, with our cousins Natalie and Malory)
Not too long and I will get to see this happen only with his own child! I'm so excited for you, Jared and Heather!

Style Change

As you have probably noticed, I changed the style of this blog, the structure will likely change as well. For example, the people referred to, unless it is what I, Liz, refer to the person as will be identified by their given name. This should give some clarity when reading the blog. I do hope however that you continue to enjoy reading what is posted.

Family Easter Celebrations

Every Easter my Mom's side of the family gets together to let the grandchildren and great-grandchildren under age 15 do an easter egg hunt. I love it!

Here are 4 of my cousins and my uncle "searching" for their eggs, we tend to hide the younger kids eggs/items in very plain view...
Immediately following the hunt we have a family dinner, which of course brings lots of laughter which is explained in the pictures below. I do believe my family discovered how the creators of Star Wars portrayed Yoda.

This is my cousin Malory who is just learning to walk, I can't recall exactly how old she is...
Her older sister Natalie put her jacket on her and as you can see it drowned her the hood covered her eyes resulting in her inability to see where she was going. She proceeded to run back and forth from the kitchen to the front room and managed to avoid tripping, it was hilarious! It was even better when she tried to take the jacket off she waved her arms up and down and started to shake her body but to no avail as Natalie had zipped up the jacket. I know I'm biased, but I have the best family ever!
